Senior
Specials
Here are some additional senior specials from
the Midwest states. As I said last month, though
many casinos offer special discounts for players
over 55 (and even over 50), they frequently
do not tell you about them unless you ask.
Illinois
Every Wednesday, from 9 AM to 3 PM, Casino Queen
(E. St. Louis) seniors receive a free continental
breakfast until 11:30 AM, a two-for-one breakfast
and lunch buffet, a gift, and free valet parking.
Iowa
At the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf (formerly
Lady Luck), 50+ guests earning at least 30 points
on Tuesdays and Thursdays receive one free pull
on a special $100,000-jackpot slot machine.
They also get a 50% off breakfast or lunch buffet
coupon, $5 in free slot coin, 25% off logo items
in the Banana Cabana Gift Shop, and a gift.
The Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona has a
Senior Special every Tuesday, including free
entertainment, special gifts, double points
and specially priced buffets.
Michigan
On Wednesdays, 55+ players at the Little River
Casino in Manistee can register at the Players
Club counter for special coupons, including
a $5 matchplay, one free drink ticket, and a
$2 food credit.
Missouri
On Senior Day Thursdays, 50+ Captain Club members
at the President's Casino in St. Louis receive
free admission for themselves and a guest, a
free continental breakfast or a hot breakfast
for 99¢, a two-for-one buffet, a $6.95 buffet
dinner, and free valet parking until 5 PM.
Wisconsin
Every Wednesday, the LCO Casino in Heyward has
a free Wild Wednesdays Slot Tournament for anyone
55+. The top point earner receives $500. On
Sundays, the casino draws the name of a senior
every half-hour for a Senior Spin and a chance
to win between $6 and $45. Several months ago,
I ran two columns telling about my favorite
food deals. Since then, several readers-as well
as a couple of casino marketing departments-have
forwarded additional information on cheap eats.
These deals are open to everyone, not just seniors:
Bluffs
Run Casino
(Council Bluffs, IA)
Every Thursday night, Player's Club members
receive half off at the Grand Buffet. If you
enjoy Prime Rib, you'll want to try the Sunday
night Grand Buffet, which features Prime Rib
for only $7.95. Or, if you're a night owl, the
Grand Midnight Buffet is only $3.95 on Friday
and Saturday nights.
Jackpot
Junction
(Morton, MN)
Every Tuesday, pay half the price for lunch
and dinner in the Carousel Buffet. Monday through
Friday, 6 AM to 10 AM, enjoy breakfast in the
Carousel Buffet for only $1.99. It may be messy,
but well worth it when you pay only $7.95 for
all-you-can-eat BBQ Beef Ribs on Fridays, 4
PM to 10 PM.
Resorts
(Atlantic City)
Enjoy the Beverly Hills Buffet even more by
paying less. Every Wednesday between 6 PM and
9 PM, the "Homestyle" buffet prices drop from
$14.95 to $6.95. If you enjoy seafood, you can't
beat the Friday night "Seafood Extravaganza"
from 6 PM to 10 PM; it's only $8.95 (regular
price is $17.95). Players Club members may also
enjoy discounted prices in the Beverly Hills
Buffet when no other discounts apply; $2 off
the "Homestyle" buffet, Monday through Thursday,
and $4 off the Seafood Extravaganza buffet on
Fridays and Saturdays.
Silverton
(Las Vegas)
On
Wednesdays, enjoy all-you-can-eat Prime Rib
for $1.99. If you get hungry while playing your
favorite machine at Rattlesnake Ricky's Bar,
you can order a hot dog for 75 cents. l
